Sometimes my job rocks! I manage public recreation in provincially owned forests. So I often get out to hike trails and inspect recreation sites as part of my job. Yesterday was a field day hiking Little Mountain. Unfortunately I forgot to start my GPS until part of the way in and then the batter died on the way out so I dont have the complete stats, but the route was 9.5km.
There was a ton of stopped time because the directions I had were awful! The distances were all wrong, there was a ton of forks where I was always guessing at which was the right one and twice I had to back track when I chose wrong. But, it was a beautiful sunny day, out in the woods and the pay off at the top of the mountain was a beautiful view!
It was a decent climb too. Not too hard to exhaust me or make me sore, but a good way to burn some extra calories on a running rest day.
The only crappy part is I had this great day out hiking and then got home and felt almost the worst I have felt with this stupid lingering cold. I went to bed before 8pm. Woke again in the night with more coughing fits. Ended up sleeping on the couch because I could tell I was keeping my husband up...grrr. I want to be done with this cold!!
