Monday my legs were pretty tired after my extra long weekend run. I got to work and was working at my office that is up 3 flights of stairs. I could tell at coffee break when I went down to do my weights that they felt pretty uninspired. Not only that I ended up having to go up and down those 3 flights of stairs 6 times over the course of the day.
I put my runners on just before lunch and had this almost sharp shooting pain in my heel. It was kinda odd and did not feel right for lack of a better description. But after the first bit of pain it was a bit duller and intermittent. Maybe I should have bailed on the run but I'm just so not that type. It didnt hurt when I ran so I went out and got the run done. I think I was pretty whiny though as I was starving and tired. Lifting my legs felt like quite a chore. Sometimes you dont feel like a run but once you get going its great. This was a run I didnt feel like doing the entire time...lol.
You can tell its an off day when we almost do 10 mins/mile! But with the twingy heel and running 29km the day before I wasnt going to be hard on myself, I just counted it as a good calorie burn. Unfortunately when I got back to work the foot felt much worse and I was starting to get a little panicky. Injured Jess = cranky Jess!! I was hungry too and got caught up in a texting conversation with a friend where we went off about all the deliciously indulgent things we wanted to eat...food porn...like sexting for those on a diet...lol!
Today I woke up and while I can still feel the heel issue, it felt a bit better. I knew I needed to take today as a rest day which worked out well because I had meetings most of the day. I did get out to one trail but it was probably only a 15-20mins hike. I was pretty hungry all day though. I am always starving on rest days.
Also I found this shirt and I want it...Nutella is like the ultimate treat in my mind. I actually cant even remember the last time I had it as I just dont allow it in my life. But I LOVE peanut butter and of course chocolate is delicious, so Nutella just seems like the most amazing love child between nuts and chocolate...mmmmmmm
I'm in the field again tomorrow for work...fingers crossed I wake up and my heel feels totally better. But if not I might consider taking a second running rest day...ahhh, that freaks me out just saying it...lol. But Thursday is speed day and I want to be 100% for that!
