Hard days and easy days

Today I was back at work after two days in the field. I find regular work days so much easier to stay on track. Its just automatic. I have set eating times, I do weights on first break and run at lunch. I dont have to think about anything...its great!

I spent the two previous days working in Powell River. Long days with lots of meetings, lots of driving and I spent the entire time with the new staff I was training and I couldnt find time to sneak away for a run.

Tuesday we left at 7:30am and got back to the hotel at 6pm.  I had packed all my snacks and lunch so I ate those as we worked. When I got back to the hotel I realized I had forgotten to pack a dinner. It was already past my dinner time and I was starving. I walked across the street to the Safeway and looked around.  I was feeling cold and tired and indecisive. I had salad for lunch and didnt want salad for dinner. I found some soup that looked alright and asked the deli workers if they would heat it up for me as the hotel doesnt have a microwave, but they said they didnt have any microwavable containers...grrr. I picked up a santa fe salad. It looked pretty good with some beans, cheese and corn and a salsa ranch dressing. The entire thing was 500 calories but it came with very little lettuce and I was worried I wouldnt be full. So I bought a bag of broco-slaw. I went back to my hotel room and made a big salad with the extra veggies.

(this is the look you get when you send me a picture from McDonalds
when I'm in the woods snacking on carrots and almonds!!)

Sometimes I get up in the morning to run in Powell River but we were leaving early the next morning so that wasnt an option. I got up at 6am and made coffee. The hotel room had packets of hot chocolate and I put one in my coffee as I had no milk and I just cant do black hotel coffee. There was a continental breakfast. I am kinda cheap and like to load up on free food...lol.

Today I was back in the office. I did my weights at morning coffee, I ran a good run at lunch. I ate well and wasnt hungry, it was easy. Why are some days so hard and other not...ah well, I'll just keeping fighting the good fight!
